notable works (such as floating stages, fountains), architectural work, drainage work, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) work, as well as artworks.
After signing the contract on September 12, 2022, this project
will be implemented within 360 calendar days and completed in September 2023. Unlike other building projects, the Lake Toba KSPN Area Project has a broader spectrum. From a technological standpoint, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is used to optimize the construction process in terms of cost, quality, and time.
Each project presents its challenges. For this project, the team was in a race against time. Apart from taking time to bring in materials from the nearest city, several areas still need to be constrained
by land acquisition. The finishing process, primarily related to
the work of art, is expected to take around five months. HK owner and management continue to monitor to ensure the construction process is completed on time. In the future, this project will be able to develop a strategic national tourism area and help improve the country's economy.

To prepare for the State Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan, Hutama Karya is entrusted with working on segment 3A of the Karangjoang- KKT Kariangau Toll Road. Later this project will connect Balikpapan and the Central Core Area of IKN and shorten the distance from two hours to thirty minutes.
Segment 3A of the Karangjoang–KKT Kariangau Toll Road has
six two-way lanes with a lane width of 3.75 meters and a median
of 17 meters. The length of the section is 13.4 km, starting from
STA 14+000–27+400, which consists of work at grade 9.94 km, an elevated pile slab of 3.2 km, a girder bridge of 0.93 km, overpass six locations, and one junction. With a completion time of 660 calendar days, this project started on September 12, 2022, and the target for completion is July 2024.
Currently, the project under construction on the IKN Toll Road is segmenting 3A–3B–5A, which connects the Existing Balikpapan– Samarinda Toll Road to the Pulau Balang Bridge. Maintaining the quality of time and the quality of this project is a challenge for the team. For this reason, four dedicated batching plants have been prepared to supply ready-mix concrete needs. While the weight
of work on the bridge site is the most extensive scope of work and requires special attention because it passes through three river channels while shipping must continue.
The team implemented digital construction from the technology side, starting from taking the initial survey using a Light Detection
and Ranging (LiDAR) drone and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM). The team also utilized tools such
as mmGPS to maintain the International Roughness Index (IRI)
of toll roads, electrical density gauge (EDG) as a substitute for sand cone tests, and intelligent compactors to maintain toll road density. While the Project Management Information System (PMIS) Dashboard, CCTV, 360 cameras, and drone photogrammetry are used to evaluate and monitor project activities.
This project prioritizes environmental sustainability and promotes local culture. Tree cutting is carried out to a minimum. However, tree planting will be carried out again in other locations to replace trees cut because they were affected by road coverage toll.
The beautification of bridges, overpasses, and junctions is also inseparable from the concept of East Kalimantan culture.
Hutama Karya hopes this project can become a benchmark for projects of the right quality, on time, and on cost. Furthermore, in supporting the accelerated development of the IKN Toll Road, the Karangjoang–KKT Kariangau Toll Road Segment 3A project reflects the Company's quality as a leader in technological innovation.
Hutama Karya hopes this project can become a benchmark for projects of the right quality, on time, and on cost.
